Uwe Rosenberg’s ‘Atiwa’ Coming

Lookout Games has announced Atiwa, from veteran designer Uwe Rosenberg (Bohnanza, Agricola).  The game will premiere at this year’s Spiel fair in Essen, Germany, and will be launched in North America through Asmodee after the show.

The Atiwa is a region in eastern Ghana, home to a variety of fruit bat often considered a pest.  In Rosenberg’s Atiwa game, they are recognized as useful animals that help spread seeds across the landscape.  Using these bats, the players seek to reforest the land and expand their fruit farms.  But, they must be careful to balance the needs of their farm and the needs of their fruit bat “pets” in order to succeed.

Atiwa features artwork by atelier198 (Klemens Franz—Orleans, Agricola), and includes 1 game board, 1 game board extension, 4 player boards, 50 tiles, 41 tokens, over 300 wooden pieces, 70 cards, 1 score pad, and 1 cloth bag.  The game is intended for 1 to 4 players, ages 12 and up, and takes about an hour and a half to play.  MSRP has not been announced.

Earlier this year, Lookout Games launched a “big box” version of another Rosenberg design, Caverna:  Cave vs. Cave (see “Asmodee Will Release ‘Caverna:  Cave vs. Cave – The Big Box’”).
