Overisles RPG Up On Kickstarter

March 04, 2022 by Polar_Bear

Playing an RPG is fun. Learning a very useful skill for communication is also fun and definitely a good thing to do. The folks over at Hatchlings have put the two together in Overisles. It’s a tabletop RPG that also teaches you American Sign Language or British Sign Language. The project is up on Kickstarter now.

From the campaign:

Introducing OVERISLES, a campaign setting for INSPIRISLES, our groundbreaking tabletop roleplaying game (ttrpg) that teaches British and American sign language. Building on the success of our first outing, OVERISLES will continue to promote empathy, cooperation and Deaf awareness.

  • Play as teens gifted extraordinary powers.
  • Work together to prevent the destruction of the kingdom.
  • Learn ASL and/or BSL as you ride giant birds, wield the elements, solve puzzles and battle mythological creatures.

Our games are inspired by over a decade working with the Deaf community and by our local 5e Dungeons & Dragons group for high schoolers. Our company is even named after those delightful Hatchlings teens! With them in mind, OVERISLES, much like INSPIRISLES, has been created to benefit gamers of all ages, and we are hoping parents, educators, tabletop beginners, and enthusiasts alike invest in our projects. Many of us cherish those 80s fantasy classics such as The NeverEnding Story and Labyrinth. OVERISLES aims to capture some of that nostalgic magic and transport its players back to a more carefree and imaginative time.

The campaign’s over 6x funded with 21 days left to go.
