The Way of a Hero RPG Up On Kickstarter

Who wouldn’t want to have superpowers? I know I would. But barring a gamma-ray accident that doesn’t just kill me, or a radioactive spider biting me that… once again, doesn’t just kill me, I’m kinda stuck just being a person. But, I can still live out my superhero dreams with The Way of a Hero, a new RPG up on Kickstarter now.

From the campaign:

Growing up, we would watch and read stories about remarkable beings we came to love and know as Superheroes. The Way of a Hero (WoaH) captures this nostalgia, and creates a vibrant world where you can become the hero you always dreamed of being. The system features 16+ Superpower types, with over 200 different powers, delivering a robust opportunity to SMASH some villains!

The framework relies on the Powered by the Apocalypse (PbtA system, which, simply put, is rolling two six-sided die and then adding your hero’s related modifier. The simple mechanics puts the emphasis on storytelling, allowing players to become a beacon of life in a dark world.

The world, set around the Association of Heroic Affairs (AHA) can offer multiple environments and storylines in which to play, including: pre-licensing where heroes learn they are special, a unique licensing module where players learn what it means to be a hero, and then attend missions to save the world from multiple disasters.

Gameplay can be episodic, one-off, or a continued overarching plot-line allowing for different types of gameplay. Introduce custom-designed villains and powers with our guide, and allow your friends to explore and create a world that allows them to escape from reality.

The book itself is meant to give the emotions of opening up a comic, where you find your heroes on the pages. From crafting your hero, to learning how to fight, you become a champion for justice!

The campaign’s up and over its funding goal with 19 days left to go.
