Writer Brian K. Vaughan and artist Cliff Chiang, the creators behind the Eisner-winning series Paper Girls, are teaming up again for a new ongoing series, Roam, to launch in 2027 from Image Comics.  Colorist Matt Wilson and letterer Jared Fletcher will complete the team.  The publishers offered few details about the story, other than that it’s a tale of new adulthood and finding one’s team, but the covers suggest a superhero theme.  The first issue, set for release on February 24, 2027, will be 50 pages long and will have two covers, both by Chiang.

“Roam is unlike anything Brian and I have done before, but inspired by our love for comics as a medium,” Chiang said in a statement accompanying the announcement; he has already drawn the first few issues.

Paper Girls, also published by Image, won the 2017 Eisner Award for Best New Series and was one of Image’s best-selling titles (see “Top Ten Author Graphic Novel Franchises of Fall 2019“). I t was adapted into a series for Amazon Prime Video in 2022 (see “‘Paper Girls’ Trailer“).
