Wizards of the Coast Announces New EventLink Enrollment Options for 'Magic' and 'D&D'

Adds Option for Players Not Using the ‘Companion’ App; Also, ‘D&D’ Event Role Selection

Wizards of the Coast announced new Wizards EventLink enrollment options for Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons.

Magic players can now more easily sign up to in-store events without using the Magic Companion app. One of the bigger issues with the app, since its advent (see “‘Magic: The Gathering Companion’ App“), had been quickly enrolling players into Magic events who didn’t have the apps on their phones.  This would clog up the registration process at the counter and slow down the start of the event.

The fix to this issue was adding a way to enroll in events via the WotC Store and Event Locator site.  There is now an icon on the site that allows players to scan into the event or sign through their Wizards Account.  Signing in through the Companion app or using this method essentially functions the same as far as interacting with the store’s EventLink tools.

WotC also announced that D&D players can be assigned different roles for in-store events.  They can either be designated either a “player” or a “Dungeon Master” at the start of the event to help organizers create a balance between people playing the game and the people running the game (there are generally two to six players in a game of D&D, but only Dungeon Master in a group).
