Marvel Comics will publish a 50th anniversary collection of the first six Star Wars comics, which were initially published in 1977 and launched just before the premiere of the first Star Wars movie. The first six issues, by writer Roy Thomas and artist Howard Chaykin, are a direct adaptation of the film. Star Wars: A New Hope 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition is a 128-page hardcover that will go on sale on April 27, 2027, 50 years to the month after the first issue hit the stands, with an MSRP of $29.99.
Taschen has just announced its Star Wars Comics Library, a larger volume in both size and scope, that collects the first 23 issues with digitally remastered art (see “Taschen’s Giant ‘Star Wars Comics Library’“).
