Former NFL running back Marshawn Lynch, now an actor and graphic novel creator, is teaming up with AWA Publishing and the Oakland Roots soccer club for a special event on September 26, 2026, to promote his upcoming graphic novel Beast Mode 510.

The event will be held from 5-7 p.m., ahead of the Roots’ matchup with Phoenix Rising and will feature photo ops with Lynch and a Level Up Skills Challenge in which fans can test their skill on an arcade-style boxing punch game; the challenge refers to the levels of Beast Mode depicted in the graphic novel.  Tickets can be purchased on the team’s website.

Beast Mode 510 (the title refers to Lynch’s nickname as an athlete and the area code for Oakland) was inspired by Lynch, fleshed out by AWA Chief Creative Officer Axel Alonso, and written by NAACP Image Award-nominated author Sheldon Allen with art by Eisner Hall of Fame member Denys Cowan.  The action-packed story is set in Oakland and centers on a freelance sleuth with a tough guy persona but a strong moral code.  The 128-page paperback will go on sale on October 6, 2026, with a cover by Razzah and an MSRP of $19.99.

AWA announced in 2025 that it was launching an Oz-based universe (see “AWA’s ‘Ultimate Oz Universe’ to Do a Deep Dive into L. Frank Baum’s Creations”).
