'Legends & Lattes' Graphic Novel, 'Something is Killing the Children' Prose Novel

Ten Speed Graphic will publish a graphic novel based on a best-selling prose novel, and Crown Books will publish a prose novel based on a best-selling comic.

Ten Speed Graphic plans to publish graphic adaptations of Travis Baldree’s Legends & Lattes novels.  Legends & Lattes: The Graphic Novel adapts the first book in the series, which was a New York Times best-seller and sold over a million copies after going viral on BookTok.  The low-stakes, high-fantasy story centers on Viv, an orc who has retired from blades and battles to open a coffee shop. Samuel Sattin, writer of Side Quest, Buzzing, and Graphix’s Unico manga, and artists Shanti Rittgers and Sarah Webb are handling the adaptation.  Ten Speed Graphic will release the book on October 6, 2026, as a 208-page hardcover with an MSRP of $28.00 and a signed, deluxe edition with colored page edges that will have an MSRP of $38.00.

Crown Books is going in the other direction with Something is Killing the Children: Hope is a Knife, a prose novel by James Tynion IV and Kiersten White set in the world of Tynion and Werther Dell’Edera’s best-selling BOOM! Studios series Something is Killing the Children.  The novel is an original story that takes place a year before the events of the comics and centers on the character of Erica Slaughter.  The book will go on sale on October 13, 2026, with an MSRP of $30.00.

White is a horror writer whose works include Hide and Mister Magic, both adapted into graphic novels by Ten Speed Graphic (see “‘Mister Magic’”).
