The Wolf Man will take center stage in Skybound’s next Universal Monsters series. Universal Monsters: Blood of the Wolf Man, by writer Joshua Williamson and artist Leomacs, the creative team behind the DC Comics series Rogues, re-creates the story of the man who becomes a monster under the full moon with a college freshman as the lead character. The four-issue miniseries, from Skybound and Image Comics, will launch on June 24, 2026. The first issue will have a main cover by Leomacs and Pip Martin, a variant by Joshua Middleton, a 1:10 connecting variant by Maria Wolf and Mike Spicer, a 1:25 “Classic Horror” black and white variant by Middleton, a 1:50 incentive variant by David Talaski, a 1:75 incentive by Jorge Fornés, a 1:100 foil incentive by Guillem March, a blank sketch cover, and a die cut reveal cover by Michael Walsh.
“It’s very different from my usual superhero work,” Williamson said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Easily the most tragic. It’s a dramatic, emotional, and heartbreaking comic about family and generation trauma. All key pieces of a horror story. Oh, and bloody and violent. It earns the Blood of the Wolf Man title in more ways than one.”
Williamson recently co-wrote the DC K.O. event with Scott Snyder (see “Scott Snyder, Joshua Williamson to Helm ‘DC K.O.’“).
