DC to Launch Three New Elseworlds Series in Summer 2026

DC Comics has announced three new Elseworlds series, including a new Supergirl series that will debut during the Summer of Supergirl (see “DC’s ‘Summer of Supergirl’ to Kick Off with a ‘Superman Day’ Takeover”).

Supergirl: Survive, by the Eisner-nominated writing team of Ethan S. Parker and Griffin Sheridan (Kill Your Darlings) and artist Rod Reis, follows teenage Kara Zor-El and her baby cousin Kal-El as they are launched into space to escape their burning planet and must struggle to survive in an uncertain future.  The first issue will be released on June 3 with a main cover by Reis and variants by Taurin Clarke and Guillem March.

Superman: Father of Tomorrow, by writer Kenny Porter and artist Danny Earls, is an alternate take on Superman’s origin story in which not Kal-El but his father Jor-El escapes to Earth and finds a new home in Kansas with a warm-hearted couple.  This Superman has both physical superpowers and a brilliant mind, so he saves the world with both strength and science.  The first issue is slated for May 27 with a main cover by Earls and variants by Gabriel Hardman and Riley Rossmo.

Dark Knights of Steel II, by writer Tom Taylor and artist Otto Schmidt, brings back the medieval saga created by Taylor and artist Yasmine Putri (see “Tom Taylor Goes Medieval in ‘Dark Knights of Steel’”), which launched in 2021 and sold out so quickly that DC published a combined reprint of the first three issues (see “DC Doing Quickie Collections”).  The new series has a new interior artist, but Putri will return to do the covers. The first issue will be released on July 15.

DC announced the return of Elseworlds, self-contained, out-of-continuity stories featuring classic DC characters, at New York Comic Con in 2023 (see “DC’s ‘Elseworlds’ to Return”).  The most recent series are Batman/Static: Beyond and the Tokusatsu Batman series Immortal Legend Batman (see “DC Announces New Elseworlds Series”).  DC is also omnibizing the older series (see “DC to Collect Superman Elseworlds Stories”).
