Capstone Expands ‘Wandering Towers’

This spring, Capstone Games will release The Magic Tower, the first expansion set for the award-winning Wandering Towers.

Created by Wolfgang Kramer and Michael Kiesling, Wandering Towers is a race and memory game about wizards using spells to rearrange the game’s eponymous towers (see “Capstone Games Reveals ‘Wandering Towers’”).  The Magic Tower enhances game play with new spells, enchanted locations, and strange characters through five expansion modules that players may mix and match as they wish.

The Elixir Fountain blocks the movement of towers, but allows visiting wizards to fill their empty potions. The Bouncy Spiderwebs creates trampoline-like spaces that towers and figures can use to jump over greater distances.  The Witch steals potions from the wizards, but a clever wizard can trap her in a special witch bottle to cast more spells.  The Raven distributes feathers as it moves around the board, which wizards can gather to perform special actions.  And rounding out the new modules is the titular Magic Tower, which adds a tenth tower to the game that permits visiting wizards to cast new magic spells without spending their potions.

The Magic Tower comes with two elixir fountain tiles, two spiderwebs, one witch pawn, six witch potion bottles, one raven pawn, 18 raven feathers, and one magic tower.  It supports games with up to six players, and requires a copy of the base game to play.  MSRP is $24.99.

Wandering Towers was recognized by the Origins Awards as the Best Gateway Board Game of 2023 (see “Origins Award Winners Announced”).

Spring will also see Capstone launch Rising Cultures (see “Capstone Partners with Huch! for First Collaborative Release”)
