Titan Comics is publishing a graphic novel adaptation of My Father’s Dragon, the Netflix animated feature, in September 2026.
The 2022 Netflix film stars Jacob Tremblay, Gaten Matarazzo, Adam Brody, Leighton Meester, Whoopi Goldberg, and Rita Moreno. The movie, written by Meg LeFauve, is based on the 1948 children’s book by Ruth Stiles Gannett, a Newbery Honor Book. It’s the story of a boy named Elmer, who runs away from his new home in the city to Wild Island, where he rescues a young dragon.
The graphic novel is from Cartoon Saloon, the animation studio that also created the film as well as The Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, and Wolfwalkers, and movie director Nora Twomey. Said Twomey, “Seeing the story take on a new life with an adaptation by the brilliant Samuel Sattin (Wolfwalkers, Song of the Sea, and The Secret of Kells graphic novels) is truly amazing.” Sattin also adapted Unico: Awakening (see “Scholastic Announces First Graphix Manga“).
The 272-page paperback will be on sale September 15 priced at $16.99. It will appear under the Titan Nova imprint for YA readers.
