Board & Dice has announced Maestro, a game that pits Leonardo da Vinci against Michelangelo in a competition of Renaissance artistry releasing in June.
In Maestro, players join the famous workshops of two of the greatest artists of Florence and compete for fame and glory by crafting artwork that will please wealthy aristocrats. The game uses a card-based action system, with players taking turns improving their abilities, displaying their works in the courts of Italy, or influencing the public’s preferences to better match their workshop’s projects.
The game can be played solo, or either two players or two teams can go head to head. The two workshops have asymmetrical capabilities, requiring players to adjust their playstyle to best match their workshop. Intended for ages 14 and up, games take about two hours to play. MSRP is $70.00.
Maestro was created by Italian designer Andrea Robbiani (co-creator of Ants). Originally titled Art of Rivalry.
Later this year, Board & Dice will launch the space expansion game Entropy (see “Board & Dice Unveils ‘Entropy’”).
