Frank Frazetta’s original cover art for Vampirella #1 hammered at $3.125 million (buyer’s premium included) at Heritage’s Comic Art Signature Auction on February 27, 2026.
The Vampirella #1 original cover art piece landed a little below some of the other recent Frazetta sales. The top sale of an original Frazetta art piece at Heritage was the Conan Man-Ape novel cover at $13.5 million (see “‘Conan’ ‘Man Ape’ Painting “), followed by the Dark Kingdom painting in 2023 for $6 million, and Egyptian Queen in 2019 for $5.4 million (see “‘Egyptian Queen’ On the Block“). This piece falls fourth on this list at $3.125 million.
The Joe Shuster Action Comics #21 Superman Cover Original Art (DC, 1940) also sold at this auction for $1 million. This was Superman’s 12th full appearance in comics, and his 9th appearance on a the cover of Action Comics.
