Disney is stretching the timeline for Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge theme park to include characters from the original trilogy, and Marvel Comics will publish a tie-in series to tell the official story of what happened there.  Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge—Echoes of the Empire will be a five-issue limited series by writer Ethan Sacks and artists Jethro Morales and Roi Mercado that follows the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Chewbacca when they head to Batuu, the land where Galaxy’s Edge is set, on a fact-finding mission and end up embroiled with the Empire because of a dangerous relic.  The first issue will be released on April 22, 2026, with a main cover by Phil Noto, a character variant by Leinil Francis Yu, and a Mandalorian & Grogu variant by E.M. Gist.

Sacks also wrote Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, a tie-in series that coincided with the opening of the park in 2019 (see “Comic Tie-In for New ‘Star Wars’ Theme Parks”).

“We’re returning to Batuu and we’re bringing the biggest stars in the Star Wars galaxy with us,” Sacks said in a statement accompanying the announcement.  “A major new era is dawning at Galaxy’s Edge and consider Echoes of the Empire a Holocron that reveals the secret story behind that experience.
