Ghost Machine will release Ghost Machine: The Official Guidebook, a guide to the Ghost Machine universes in a five-issue series, the company announced. The series features text and art by Geoff Johns, Jason Fabok, Gary Frank, Bryan Hitch, Ivan Reis, Peter J. Tomasi, Brad Anderson, and others.
Ghost Machine: The Official Guidebook will cover the four inter-connected Ghost Machine Universe, spotlighting over 120 characters and teasing future storylines and events. The first two issues will focus on The Unnamed Universe, with Geiger, Redcoat, Junkyard Joe, and others. The third issue covers the universe of The Rocketfellers, Hornsby & Halo, and a raft of new characters appearing for the first time. The fourth issue covers the characters from the sci-fi universe Rook: Exodus; and the fifth covers Ghost Machine’s horror world Hyde Street.
The new series nods to Who’s Who in the DC Universe and The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe, but is providing the guide to Ghost Machine characters decades earlier in the development of their worlds than the Big 2 versions (Ghost Machine was formed in 2023, see “New Company”).
Each issue will feature three covers: an A cover by Gary Frank and Brad Anderson with the character lineup in the issue; a B cover homage to The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe by Bryan Hitch and Brad Anderson; and a C cover homage to Who’s Who in the DC Universe by Ivan Reis, Danny Miki, and Brad Anderson.
Ghost Machine editor-in-chief Brian Cunningham explained the concept. “I was always a huge fan of these entertaining encyclopedic comics,” he said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “Whenever I wanted to know something about a character, I knew where to go. I also loved learning about characters I had never seen before, and then wanting to track down those comics with them so I could read those stories. I’m hoping fans will do the same with our Guidebook.”
Ghost Machine: The Official Guidebook #1 will be released April 1 by Image Comics.
