New French graphic novel publisher Morgen has signed Ram V, Anand Radhakrishnan (RK), and Evan Cagle to a nine-volume, six-figure graphic novel deal, with Image Comics on deck to handle English-language territories, the parties announced. The graphic novel series will be written by Ram V, with art by Radhakrishnan and Cagle, letters by Aditya Bidikar and edited by Eric Harburn.
Morgen is a new house organized by Sullivan Rouaud, alongside Thomas Ragon, Arthur Huignard and Victorine Gay, within Les Nouveaux Editeurs group. The first titles from the new house will be released early this year.
With nine volumes planned, the project has significant heft. “Ram embodies excellence: a demanding, visionary understanding of what pop culture can and should convey to its readers,” Morgen Publisher and President Rouaud said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “This new project, which brings together two artists I’ve also had the privilege of publishing, Evan Cagle and Anand Radhakrishnan, already stands out as the most ambitious work I’ve seen him undertake.”
Ram V pointed to presentation as part of that ambition. “I’ve always tried to view format, design and the way a narrative is presented and told as part of the art of storytelling in the medium,” he said. “This book is possibly the most ambitious project I’ve undertaken in that regard.”Source: ICv2
