Heritage Auctions announced that they have posted $2.158 billion in total sales for 2025.

This is the fifth year in a row that Heritage has broken a record for total sales, passing last year’s totals by over 15% (see “New Records in 2024“).  The category that led the way in 2025 was Numismatics, which total $470 million in sales behind the momentum of a surging precious metals market.  However, the categories that seemed to truly standout in this banner year for Heritage were Comics & Comic Art and Historical: Pop Culture.

The Comics & Comic Art category had a great year, racking up $216.2 million in sales.  This passed last year’s total of $205 million in sales, and the second highest total yearly sales for the category at Heritage.  The two big sales of the year in this category were Frank Frazetta’s Conan novel cover Man-Ape painting that hammered at $13.5 million (see “‘Conan’ ‘Man Ape’ Painting “) and $9.12 million CGC 9.0 Superman #1 (1939) sale (see “High-Grade ‘Superman’ #1 Brings Record Price“).

The Historical: Pop Culture category also did very well at auction in 2025, particularly with movie-related items.  The clear standout was the sale of all of the movie items sold was the Rosebud sled from Citizen Kane, which is an iconic piece of movie history that hammered at $14.75 million  (see “Auction Block“).  As for items related to geek culture, there were multiple Star Wars movie artifact auctions that did well. The top sale for Star Wars-related movie artifacts was the Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) Half-Sheet Original Artwork for a Key Poster by Tom Jung that went for $3.875 million (see “‘Star Wars’ Painting“).

On another note, Heritage’s Trading Card Games department set a record of $5.28 million in sales behind a hot Pokemon TCG market.  The top sale in that category was a $550,000 Gem Mint 10 Charizard #4 card (see “Vintage Card Hammer Prices Rebalance“).
