Marvel Comics will release Star Wars Legends: The Newspaper Strips Omnibus, a new omnibus collection of Star Wars newspaper strips and comics, this summer. The omnibus will include colorized versions of the dailies originally released by Dark Horse Comics. The newspaper strips were originally published between 1979 and 1984 with stories set between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back (with limited exceptions). The talent on the strips was epic, with the first run by Russ Manning and later strips by Archie Goodwin and Al Williamson.
Writers listed for the collection include Manning, Goodwin & Rick Hberg, with art by Manning, Williamson, Alfredo Alcalo, Allen Nunis, and Hoberg.
Two covers will be offered, for the regular edition and the Direct Market exclusive, both by Williamson.
The omnibus collection will include Classic Star Wars: The Early Adventures (1994) #1-9, Classic Star Wars: Han Solo at Stars’ End (1997) #1-3, Classic Star Wars (1992) #1-20, Classic Star Wars: A New Hope (1994) #1-2, Classic Star Wars: The Vandelhelm Mission (1995) #1, and Star Wars newspaper strips.
Marvel previously collected the Star Wars Legends newspaper strips in Epic Collections (see “‘Star Wars’ Newspaper Strips”).
The 1,096-page hardcover volume will be released on July 22 at $125 MSRP.
