Alliance Game Distributors Rebranded to Universal

Universal Distribution has rebranded its U.S. operations, which it acquired from Diamond Comic Distributors (see “Universal Gets Alliance”), from Alliance Game Distributors to the Universal name with the launch of its new website. Universal CEO Angelo Exarhakos told ICv2  back in July that the plan was to rebrand in conjunction with the new website and new ERP software (see “ICv2 Interview: Angelo Exarhakos”). At the ICv2 Insider Talks, Exarhakos characterized the Alliance technology as “antiquated,” and in need of replacement as “the first order of business” (see “Insider Talks: Exarhakos”).

The new site includes products in categories Alliance hadn’t carried, including comics, with DC and Dynamite titles available (see “Dynamite Adds Universal”); toys, plush, and diecast;  and sports trading cards, early manifestations of Universal’s plans to create a one-stop distributor in the U.S. for games, comics, and merch.
