ICv2 has an exclusive first look at the covers and new interior pages of The Center Holds, by Larry Hama and the late M.D. “Doc” Bright (see “Larry Hama Scripts New Superhero Series”). This series is the final work by Bright, who died in 2024 (see “RIP M.D. Bright”).
The Center Holds #1 will go on sale on February 11, 2026, and BOOM! Studios will donate 2% of net sales to The Hero Initiative in honor of Bright. In a statement, the publisher said:
BOOM! Studios is proud to honor the memory of Mark D. “Doc” Bright by supporting The Hero Initiative by donating a percentage of sales from The Center Holds in his name.
Most comic creators—writers, line artists, colorists, and letterers alike— are contractors doing work-for-hire jobs in a highly competitive landscape. This means that they work without the guarantee of a steady paycheck or the benefits that come with more conventional careers. Due to this precarious situation, many of our favorite creators are one emergency away from a serious crisis.
The Hero Initiative provides a safety net for comic creators in medical or financial need. To date, they have given over one million dollars in aid to the people who make the comics we all love.
