Dark Horse CEO Mike Richardson Responds to Questions

ICv2 reached out to Dark Horse Comics CEO Mike Richardson to get clarification on some recent questions about Dark Horse title count and an employee situation.

We asked Richardson about a tip we received that Dark Horse had informed creators that it was cancelling or delaying dozens of titles originally planned for 2026.  “There is no major effort to reduce and/or cancel titles, in fact the latest count I received showed us slightly up from ’24,” Richardson responded.  “What you may be hearing is the reaction to us dropping some titles delayed during the COVID shutdown from as far back as 2019.  As you know, Diamond’s collapse created challenges and we continue to re-evaluate our schedule as we go forward.”

We also asked about Dark Horse Vice President-Marketing Cara O’Neil, who left the company in November, and whether her departure was part of a reduction in force.  “As you know, we do not discuss the departure of employees, but we wish only the best for her in the future,” Richardson said.  “There are no large staff reductions being considered at this time.”

Dark Horse had a round of layoffs early this year (see “Dark Horse Confirms Layoffs“).
