CMYK Goes on a 'Hot Streak'

CMYK is offering Hot Streak, a game about wacky mascot races from the designer of Air, Land, & Sea, Jon Perry.

In Hot Streak, four mascots of the type one might see at a sporting event run a series of three races.  The players place bets on the races by drafting betting tickets from those on display. Each bet can be made “safe” or “risky” for a higher payout, but risky bets cost the player if they don’t pay out. Once the betting is done, each player secretly adds a card to the race deck before the race begins.

As anyone who has watched a mascot race knows, the racers often struggle, wandering into other lanes, knocking each other over, or even running backwards in their confusion. These antics are determined by the deck of racing cards, which are randomly revealed one by one to guide the racers along the track until the podium is filled and bets are paid.  The player with the most money after the third race wins the game.

Hot Streak features four chunky mascot miniatures and a roll-out racetrack stored on a spool inside the game box.  It is intended for two to nine players, ages six and up, and plays in about 20 minutes. The artwork is by Cecile Gariepy (Monikers).  MSRP is $49.99.

Last month, CMYK launched an updated version of Magical Athlete with new elements created by Richard Garfield (see “Richard Garfield Updates Rules to ‘Magical Athlete’”).
