GAMA Appoints Interim Executive Director

The GAMA board of directors has appointed an interim executive director to manage the organization during the search for a permanent replacement for John Stacy, who left the role at the end of October (see “Stacy Leaving GAMA“).  The board has appointed Zaria Davis, Ph.D., to the role. Davis heads consulting firm New Direction Coaching & Consulting, which has a practice in nonprofit consulting, coaching, and leadership facilitation.

“The board has brought Zaria Davis in as interim executive director to ensure we keep moving forward during this transitional stage,” Board President Nicole Brady said in a statement accompanying the announcement.  “She will be helping the organization build on our existing procedures with a primary objective of ensuring a strong foundation for when we hire the new executive director.”

Davis brings deep expertise in restorative practice, organizational development, and inclusive leadership. In addition to her doctorate in social work, Davis is also an ordained minister. Prior to founding her own consulting firm, Davis worked as an executive search consultant and non-profit executive director.

The interim executive director is expected to guide the organization until sometime next spring to give the organization time to find a suitable candidate, according to Brady.  GAMA has retained search firm CapDev, which specializes in non-profit leadership roles, to assist in the search.
