A newly found high-grade copy of Superman #1, graded higher than any other copy of the issue, has brought a record price at auction.  The CGC 9.0 copy gaveled at $9.12 million with buyer’s premium at the Heritage Comic Books Signature Auction Thursday.

The previous auction record for a comic, $6 million for a CGC 8.5 copy of Action Comics #1, also at a Heritage auction, held the record for under two years (see “New Record Price“).

The previous auction record for a copy of Superman #1 was $5.3 million for a CGC 8.0 copy in 2022 (see “’Superman’ Most Expensive“).

The copy auctioned this week was found by brothers cleaning out the attic of their mother’s house.  For the full story see “Newly Found Copy.”
