Next Universal Monsters Series Is 'Phantom of the Opera'

Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics have announced the newest entry in their Universal Monsters line: Universal Monsters: The Phantom of the Opera, a four-issue miniseries by writer Tyler Boss and artist Martin Simmonds, who was also the artist for Universal Monsters: Dracula.  Like all the Universal Monsters comics, this is a new take on the film version of a classic horror story.  Set in the Paris Opera House in the early 20th century, the story opens with a series of violent attacks in the opera house and centers on a young soprano and her friend who investigates the attacks and uncovers a hidden connection with a mysterious voice that whispers from the eaves.

The first issue will be released on February 25, 2026, with covers by Simmonds and Joshua Middleton, a 1:10 cover by Anwita Citriya, a 1:25 “Classic Horror” black and white cover by Middleton, a 1:50 cover by Rosemary Valero-O’Connell, a 1:75 cover by David Talaski, a 1:100 foil cover by Baldemar Rivas, and a mask cover by Andrea Milana and Jillian Crab.

Skybound launched the Universal Monsters line in 2023 (see “Skybound Kicks Off ‘Universal Monsters’ License with Dracula Miniseries“).
