Fresh Hollywood news has hit the wire, and it’s time for a round-up!
Warner Bros. Animation and WEBTOON Entertainment Inc. have teamed up to develop a new slate of animated projects. They will co-produce animated projects for 10 fan-favorite WEBTOON series; initial titles mentioned include The Stellar Swordmaster, Hardcore Leveling Warrior, Down to Earth, and Elf & Warrior. This announcement came alongside the release of WEBTOON’s quarterly financial report (see “WEBTOON Flips to Loss“).
DC Studios and HBO Max are developing a DC Crime series, according to Variety. The new series will mimic a true crime docuseries, and be hosted by Jimmy Olsen, played by Skyler Gisondo. The first season will feature Gorilla Grodd as the main villain (see “‘No Gorilla Limits’“).
HBO Max has a V for Vendetta series in development, according to Variety. James Gunn and Peter Safran with executive produce the series, and they have tapped writer Pete Jackson to pen the scripts. Fathom Entertainment, Warner Brothers Pictures and Saga Arts previously announced that the V for Vendetta feature will be re-released into theaters on November 5, 2026 (see “‘V for Vendetta’ Back to Theaters“).
Bad Idea’s upcoming Ordained comic series has already been optioned by the Russo Brothers before it even hits the shelves, the company announced. Actor Colin Farrell, who recently played the lead role in The Penguin (see “‘Penguin’“), is attached to the project, with John Wick creator Derek Kolstad to adapt. Ordained #1, written by Robert Venditti with art by Trevor Hairsine, will hit comic shops on December 10, 2025.
Atlas Entertainment is adapting Ghost Machine’s Redcoat, about a British deserter that gains immortality during the American Revolutionary War, into a feature film, the companies announced. Redcoat was a minor character in Geoff John’s Geiger comic series (see “‘Geiger’“); he made his first appearance in Geiger 80-page Giant #1. The character graduated to having his own solo series in 2025.
Nintendo and Illumination released the first trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (see below). This movie is the sequel to the blockbuster hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie (see “‘Super Mario’ Over $1B“), and will head to theaters on April 3, 2026.Source: ICv2
