IDW will publish a new Rocketeer series, Rocketeer: The Island, based on an unpublished outline by creator Dave Stevens, who died in 2008. Eisner Award winner John Layman will be the writer for the new series, working with artist Jacob Edgar and colorist K.J. Diaz. The story takes place in 1938, with Cliff Secord, a.k.a. The Rocketeer, setting out to save Amelia Earhart and winding up on a mystery-shrouded island. The first issue will be released on February 25, 2026, with Cover A by Edgar and Diaz, Cover B by Stevens (all issues will have a B cover by Stevens), Cover C by Sean Murphy and Simon Gough, a 1:25 variant by Elizabeth Beals, and a 1:50 variant by Nick Bradshaw.
IDW released a new edition of The Rocketeer: The Complete Adventures in 2022 (see “IDW to Publish New Edition”).
