As Universal Expands into Comics in the U.S.
Dynamite Entertainment is adding Universal Distribution for U.S. distribution to specialty and hobby markets, the companies announced. Dynamite was previously distributed by Universal only in Canada. “Universal has been a trusted partner in Canada for decades via our merchandising,” Dynamite CEO and Publisher Nick Barrucci said of their past relationship.
The agreement kicks off with January-shipping titles, which can be ordered through Universal. Dynamite is also distributed in the U.S. by Lunar (see “Dynamite Adds Lunar for Distribution“).
Dynamite is the second of the Big 7 periodical comic publishers to offer comics to retailers through Universal; Universal signed a global agreement with DC Comics in 2022 (see “DC Opens New Direct Distributor“).
“We’ve built a strong relationship in Canada and expanding that partnership into the U.S. market allows us to offer retailers even more variety and value as we grow our distribution network,” Universal CEO Angelo Exarhakos said in a statement accompanying the announcement.
Universal recently acquired Free Comic Book Day, and is adding comics to its games, cards, and merch lines in the U.S. (see “Insider Talks: Angelo Exarhakos of Universal Distribution“).
