Anime features released in theaters have become a new driver of manga sales in 2025, as shown by the chart of the Top 20 best-selling Adult graphic novels according to Circana BookScan data for October 2025 (10/5/25 – 11/1/25) provided to ICv2.
Vol. 19 of Chainsaw Man is at number 1, and the boxed set of the first 11 volumes sold enough copies to end up at number 18, doubtless getting a boost from the Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc anime feature, which premiered in theaters on October 24 (see “‘Chainsaw Man’ Carves Up BO“).
The first volume of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is hanging in at #4, riding on the visibililty from the September theatrical release of the anime feature (see “‘Demon Slayer’ Boffo“).
Streaming anime series also had their impact, with Vol. 15 of Dandadan at #2, and Vol. 6 of The Summer Hikaru Died in the sixth slot, impressive when you consider that the book was released on October 28, with only a few days of sales in the report.
The first volume of VIZ Media’s new 25th anniversary omnibus edition of Ai Yazawa’s Nana (see “‘Nana’ Omnibus“) hit the stands in October and makes number 11 on the chart, despite the fact that this series is both 25 years old and incomplete; Nana fandom remains strong.
October was a manga-heavy month, with only three non-manga releases making the top 20: the new Lore Olympus and two DC collections, one of new material and one a classic: the paperback edition of Vol. 1 of Absolute Batman, and the DC Compact Comics edition of Batman: The Long Halloween, which was released, appropriately enough, just before Halloween.
