IDW Publishing is expanding its team with three new hires, as it promotes two. The new hires span editorial and marketing, with the biggest news a new Group Editor for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and other lines.

Jake Thomas
Jake Thomas, who recently became available after four years at Humanoids (see “Humanoids Files Bankruptcy“) and 11 years at Marvel Comics, has joined IDW Publishing as Group Editor. He will oversee the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line, but also have responsibilities on Godzilla and Sonic the Hedgehog titles.
“I’ve been extremely impressed by Jake’s creativity, organization and dedication to working with artists and business partners alike to find the best path forward in any given situation,” IDW Editor-in-Chief Bobby Curnow said of Thomas.

Corey Wells
Corey Wells, who spent time at retail stores Showcase Comics and Fantom Comics, and at TKO Studios, has been hired as Fan Engagement Coordinator. In that role he will be responsible for social media, videos, events, and more.

Darran Robinson
Darran Robinson joined IDW earlier this year as Art Director, responsible for logos and other design elements. He came from DC Comics, where he spent over seven years, most recently as Associate Art Director.
“Corey brings a deep understanding of fandom and community engagement that will help strengthen our connection with readers across every platform, while Darran’s creative eye and design expertise will elevate how we present our stories visually,” IDW VP-Marketing said of the hires.

Ryan Balkam
IDW promoted Ryan Balkam, formerly Specialty Sales Manager and Direct Market Sales Rep to Director of Sales; and Cassandra Jones, formerly Editorial Assistant to Associate Editor.
“Ryan’s insight and dedication to our retail and distribution partners have been invaluable,” Driver said of the sales promotion. “His ability to blend data with a genuine passion for the comics industry makes him an incredible asset to IDW.”

Cassandra Jones
