Fall has fallen, November is in full swing, and fresh Hollywood news is abundant. Time for a round up!

Predator: Badlands topped the box office over the weekend, with a $40 million box office gross, according to Variety Director Dan Trachtenberg seems to have the magic touch with Predator movies; his last Predator movie, Prey, set records for the number of streaming views in three days on Hulu (see “New ‘Predator’ Feature Sets Record“).

Fathom Entertainment, Warner Brothers Pictures and Saga Arts will re-release V for Vendetta to theaters on November 5, 2026.  The producers of the event have released a trailer (see below) tied to the “one year from tonight” tag line from the film, which stars Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving, along with Stephen Rea, John Hurt, Stephen Fry, and others.  The graphic novel is written by Alan Moore (although in accord with Moore’s wishes, Warner Bros. does not use his name in promoting the film) with art by David Lloyd.

Kodansha Studios has officially opened up its doors, according to Deadline This new studio, run by two-time Oscar winner Chloe Zhao (see “‘Eternals’“) and Nicolas Gouda, will focus its efforts on turning hit manga IPs into live-action movies and TV series.

Netflix unveiled the first five minutes of Stranger Things Season 5 (see below).  The first five minutes of the upcoming season depicts Will’s first encounter with Vecna.  The first episodes of the new final season begin streaming  on November 26, 2025 (see “‘Stranger Things’ S5“).

The anime industry grew significantly in 2024, according to The Hollywood Reporter The Association of Japanese Animations released 2024 numbers that showed that the anime industry racked up $25 billion in revenue, an increase of 14.8% over last year.  The uptick in revenue was driven by overseas markets, which took in $14.27 billion of the $25 billion.  Overseas markets are looking good in 2025 as well with anime movie hits like Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba Infinity Castle taking North American box offices by storm (see “‘Demon Slayer’ Slays Again“).

Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are in talks to star in a new movie for The Mummy franchise, according to The Hollywood Reporter Fraser and Weisz starred in two fairly successful The Mummy movies together (see “Mummy Returns Boffo“).  Weisz stepped away from the franchise after the second movie, but Fraser continued on to star in a third The Mummy movie, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (see “Best in Shows 2008“).  The return of both stars to the next Mummy movie could help revive the franchise.

Universal Studios also released another trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 (see below).  This movie, starring Josh Hucherson, Elizabeth Lail, Matthew Lillard, Wayne Knight, McKenna Grace, and Skeet Ulrich, will hit theaters on December 5, 2025 (see “‘Five Nights at Freddy’s 2’“).Source: ICv2
