AMIGO Games, Inc. Will Close Up Shop

AMIGO Games, Inc., a U.S. arm of AMIGO Spiel + Freizeit GmbH in Germany,  announced that will close up shop at the end of 2025.

The U.S. arm of AMIGO was founded in 2018, initially helmed by Jeff Pinsker (see “Amigo’s Jeff Pinsker Joins the GAMA Board“), as way to establish a greater footprint for AMIGO products in the NA market. Alex Yeager took charge of the U.S. subsidiary as COO in 2021 as the world was rebounding from the pandemic (see “Alex Yeager as Their New COO“). Since the pandemic, AMIGO Games had been focusing on reintroducing some of their evergreens into the U.S. market, such as Bohnanza (see “‘Bohnanza Anniversary Edition’“), Take Five (see “‘Take Five: 30th Anniversary Edition’“), and others.

However, their effort to reintroduce evergreens was thwarted by shifting shipping prices (see “International Shipping Delays“) and increases in component costs. The erratic tariff situation in 2025 was both unpredictable and added additional costs to their products. This led AMIGO Spiel + Freizeit GmbH to eventually decide shutter AMIGO Games, Inc. at the end of this year.

Parent CEO Alexander Jost explained the decision. “After eight years of intensive efforts, we have to admit that we cannot meet the economic challenges of the American market with our small company,” he said. “We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the AMIGO Games team, Alex Yeager and Corey Delmonto, for their tireless efforts.”

AMIGO Games’ products will be available to retailers while supplies last.
