Papercutz has announced that The Smurfs Archives Vol. 4 will include the Smurfs comics published by Marvel Comics in 1982, which have been out of print for over 30 years. The Smurfs Archives is a hardcover series collecting all the Smurfs comics in their originally printed order in English. Vol. 4 will be released on February 3, 2025, with an MSRP of $39.99. The series is rated for ages 7-12.
Marvel published three Smurfs comics in 1982 and later collected the stories as a single 68-page treasury and reformatted some to be published as six mini-comics. According to the Grand Comics Database, two stories in the first issue, “The Smurf Plane” and “The Smurf of Youth,” were penciled by prolific Archie artist Dan DeCarlo (see “Dan DeCarlo”) and inked by Marvel artist Marie Severin (see “RIP Marie Severin”), as was the cover of that issue. All other covers and stories are credited to Peyo.
