Hollywood is closing in on the end of Q3 2025, and more news has hit the wire.  Time for a round-up!

20th Century Studios unveiled a new Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer (see below).  This move will hit theaters on December 19, 2025 (see “‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’“).

Lucasfilm revealed an official trailer for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu (see below).  The trailer reveals new characters, including Rotta the Hutt (see “Jeremy Allen White in ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’“) and Sigourney Weaver as Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios.  It will hit theaters on May 22, 2026.

HBO Max released a new trailer for IT: Welcome to Derry (see below).  This prequel series to the IT movies will begin streaming on October 26, 2025 (see “‘It: Welcome to Derry’“).

Spider-Man: Brand New Day filming was paused filming in mid-September, according to Variety Tom Holland, who plays the title character, suffered a mild concussion while filming and had to take a break from filming.  Also announced in September, Sony added Marvin Jones III to the cast as Tombstone, a notable crime boss in the comics (see “‘Gang War’ Covers“), according to Deadline.

Rick Moranis has ended his acting retirement to join the cast of Spaceballs 2, according to Variety Moranis hasn’t been in a movie since 1997’s Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves, but he has come back to reprise his role as Lord Dark Helmut in the upcoming sequel (see “‘Spaceballs’ Sequel“).  Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, George Wyner, and Mel Brooks will also reprise their roles from the previous film.

Jerry Bruckheimer is developing a new Pirates of the Caribbean movie, according to Variety.  He mentioned this as part of a conversation at the Variety Entertainment & Technology Summit.  Disney had previously attached Margot Robbie to a new Pirates project in 2020, but not much has been mentioned since about a new movie (see “Margot Robbie in ‘Pirates’ Reboot“).Source: ICv2
