Hachette Announces Edition Spielwiese Releases

In October, Hachette will release two new titles from the Edition Spielwiese studio:  Snake Charmers and MicroMacro Jigsaw: The Home Game.

Snake Charmers is a social deduction style game in which some players try to hasten the arrival of daybreak while the “snakes” among them try to keep things dark.  In turn, each player passes a card, announcing (or lying about) its identity, to another player who may accept it, or refuse triggering another offer until a card is accepted.

As cards are passed, they may modify the light and dark cards in the middle of the table or possibly change the receiver into a snake.  In this way, the identities of the players can shift during the game, as a player who has at least one snake card in their hand plays as a member of the snake team.  The winning team is determined at the end of the game by whether all of the cards in the center show daylight or darkness.

The game comes with 28 cards and instructions.  Created by Emely, Lukas, Inka, and Markus Brand.  Illustrations by Tina Kraus and Florian Biege.  Snake Charmers is intended for three to six players ages eight and up, and takes about 15 minutes to play.  MSRP is $19.99.

The second puzzle in the MicroMacro line, The Home Game features a chaotic football (soccer) match revealed through a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle measuring 68 by 48 cm when assembled.  The image for the puzzle is taken from the MicroMacro Crime City map.

Within the illustrations are more than 50 hidden object riddles for players to seek and find, guided by a series of questions included in the box, and a pair of kid-friendly MicroMacro cases will be available for download for players to solve. MSRP $24.99.  Intended for one or more players, ages eight and up.

Earlier this year, Hachette released Edition Spielwiese’s MicroMacro Kids:  Crazy City Park set (see “Hachette to offer ‘MicroMacro Kids’”).  Hachette will also release Studio H’s Leaders in October (see “Face Off in Unusual Duels in ‘Leaders’”).
