It’s another busy week in Hollywood, time to round-up the fresh news!
Crunchyroll’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Infinity Castle continued its box office rampage this weekend, according to Deadline. It retained its #1 spot at the box office, beating out the horror movie Him, and is expected to hit about $17.3 million at the box office this weekend. This movie is estimated to gross over $555 million worldwide (see “‘Demon Slayer’ Boffo“), and it is on track to be one of the highest grossing anime movies of all-time.
Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and NBCUniversal filed a joint suit in the U.S. District for the Central District of California against MiniMax, according to Variety. MiniMax is a Chinese AI company that operates Hailuo AI, an image and video generating service. The three media giants allege that the service stole copyrighted characters and repurposed them as their own. This comes after Warner Bros. recently joined the Midjourney suit with Disney and NBCUniversal (see “Files AI Suit“).
Disney renewed Daredevil: Born Again for a third season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show had already been scheduled for a second season, which is set to stream in May 2026. Series stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are expected to reprise their lead roles in Season 3 (see “‘Daredevil’“).
Pamela Anderson is looking to revive Barb Wire as a TV series, according to Deadline. She recently launched And-Her-Sons Productions, alongside Brandon Thomas Lee and Dylan Jagger Lee, and this will be their studio’s first project. Anderson, of course, starred as Barb Wire in the 1996 film based on the Dark Horse comics series (see “‘The Barb Wire Compendium’“).
Netflix released a new teaser for The Witcher Season 4 (see below). The teaser features the first clips of Liam Hemsworth as Geralt of Rivia, replacing Henry Cavill in the role (see “Cavill Out“). This series begins streaming on October 30, 2025.
Legendary actor Robert Redford passed away on September 16, 2025. His acting career was defined by iconic roles in The Natural, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, The Candidate, and The Sting, but his sole Academy Award win came as the director of Ordinary People. Marvel fans know him best as Alexander Pierce in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (see “Robert Redford Gets His Own ‘Winter Soldier’ Poster“). Robert Redford was 89 years old.Source: ICv2
