DC has added two more titles to its Compact Comics line: Batman: Gotham by Gaslight and Batman: White Knight, both slated for early 2026 with the standard Compact Comics MSRP of $9.99.
Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, by writer Brian Augustyn and artist Mike Mignola, first published in 1989 as a standalone graphic novel, pits a 19th-century version of Batman against Jack the Ripper. The graphic novel’s initial success led DC to create the Elseworlds imprint for stories that take place outside the established DC Universe, and it was adapted into an animated film in 2018. DC is currently publishing a 12-issue sequel, Gotham by Gaslight: The Kryptonian Age, by Andy Diggle and Leandro Fernandez (see “DC’s ‘Elseworlds’ to Return in 2024”). The 120-page Batman: Gotham by Gaslight compact comics edition will go on sale on January 20, 2026.
Batman: White Knight, by writer Sean Murphy and artist Matt Hollingsworth was initially published as an eight-issue limited series in 2017-2018. The collected edition was DC’s first Black Label graphic novel (see “DC Begins Rebranding Old Material as Black Label”), and it was one of the top 20 graphic novels in Bookscan in 2018 (see “November 2018 NPD BookScan”). The series also spawned two sequels. The Compact Comics edition of Batman: White Knight will be released on February 20, 2026.
DC will also publish Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow as a Compact Comic (see “DC Adds ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ to Compact Comics Line”).
