Ghost Galaxy will release The Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation, the classic strategy game by Reiner Knizia, into retail in February 2026.
The new version of this game was previewed at GAMA Expo 2025 (see “Ultimate Edition of ‘LotR: The Confrontation’“), and the last version was released by Fantasy Flight Games in 2013 (see “‘Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation’“). In this game, players take control of various iconic LotR characters in an intense bluffing and strategy game where the fate of Middle-Earth hangs in the balance. The new edition features the classic Knizia design with new box art and updated components.
Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation is for two players, ages 14 and up, and plays in 30 minutes. It will retail for $54.99.
