23rd St. to Publish First Collected Edition of Paul Pope's 'THB'

23rd St., the adult imprint that spun out of First Second Books, will publish Paul Pope’s sci-fi comic THB as a three-volume set, Total THB, with remastered black and white art and new material.  This is the first time the series has been collected into graphic novel format.  The story follows a wealthy teenager who lives on Mars and is accompanied by a bodyguard, the eponymous THB, who shape-shifts from a rubber ball to a giant humanoid when splashed with water.  Pope launched the comic in 1994, self-publishing it through his own Horse Press.  The series was nominated for the 1995 Eisner Award for Best New Series, and Pope’s reworked first issue, Giant THB 1.v.2., was nominated for the 2004 Eisner Award for Best Single Issue.  23rd St. will publish the 208-page first volume on November 11, 2025, as a 7.5″ x 10″ paperback with an MSRP of $24.99.

First Second first announced that it would publish THB in 2007, planning a four-volume, 1,200-page, full color edition and an oversized black and white edition to be released in 2009 (see “First Second Releasing ‘Total THB’”).
