IDW Publishing has inked a deal with YouTube personality CoryxKenshin to distribute his action/horror series Monsters We Make. The first volume of the graphic novel series, which is done in a manga style and reads from right to left, sold over 200,000 copies when it was released by the creator’s New Edyn Press in December 2024. IDW will publish a new edition on October 28, 2025, as a black-and-white trade paperback with an exclusive, retail-only cover and an MSRP of $11.99. Like the first volume, Vols. 2 and 3 will debut on CoryxKenshin’s direct to consumer platform and will be published by IDW with retailer-exclusive covers.
The story is set at the sinister New Edyn Academy, where incoming student Jabari Booker soon finds his hopes for a bright future of music and mastery dashed when he discovers the horrors at its core. “Monsters We Make is a story that epitomizes the human experience – covering the highs and lows of life and humanity’s constant thirst for more – that touches on mature themes within an action/horror shonen skeleton, made by lifelong fans of the genre,” CoryxKenshin said in a statement accompanying the announcement.
CoryxKenshin is a YouTuber who started out doing comedy sketches and playthroughs of horror games (he had a cameo in the 2023 Five Nights at Freddy’s movie) and currently has over 22 million subscribers.
Another YouTube personality, MrBallen, is the creator of the best-selling MrBallen Presents graphic novel (see “More MrBallen”).
