Official Buzzwole ex strategy revealed for Pokémon TCG Pocket

The Pokémon Company is continuing to reveal new content for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. Read on below to learn more:

Bodacious Buzzwole ex teams up with Pheromosa and Kartana for swole-tastic results.

Ultra Beasts have made their epic arrival in Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket’s latest expansion, Extradimensional Crisis, and one of the buffest and baddest is ready to make an impact on your next battle. Get ready for the unbridled might of the bold, the bodacious, the less-than-bashful Buzzwole ex—this Grass-type Basic Pokémon ex surely has the brawn to win matches on its own, but this strategy brings in supporting attackers Pheromosa and Kartana to serve up vital chip damage that can set up Knock Outs for the mighty Swollen Pokémon with chilling efficiency.

2× Buzzwole ex (Extradimensional Crisis)
2× Pheromosa (Extradimensional Crisis)
1× Kartana (Extradimensional Crisis)
2× Professor’s Research (Promo)
2× Cyrus (Space-Time Smackdown: Palkia)
2× Lusamine (Extradimensional Crisis)
2× Erika (Genetic Apex: Charizard)
1× Mars (Space-Time Smackdown: Palkia)
2× Poké Ball (Promo)
2× Leaf Cape (Celestial Guardians: Solgaleo)
1× Beastite (Extradimensional Crisis)
1× Pokémon Communication (Space-Time Smackdown: Dialga)

Game plan: There are two ways to take advantage of Buzzwole ex’s powerhouse status by forcing a “four-point match”—essentially forcing your opponent to earn four points to win. The first, ideal strategy is to dole out early-game chip damage with Pheromosa and Kartana before unleashing Buzzwole ex, while the second is to attack with two Buzzwole ex. Obviously, if you draw Pheromosa or Kartana during the first few turns, you’ll probably want to opt for the first strategy. If you start with Buzzwole ex, though, you’re better off leaning into it and just attacking with it so you can avoid having to pay its high Retreat Cost.

The famously nimble Pheromosa can get matches going quick with its cost-effective Jump Blues attack, which does 20 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokémon and a Benched Pokémon of your choice for only one Grass Energy. It might not seem like much, but Jump Blues can set up a variety of future Knock Outs for Buzzwole ex. Spreading out damage with Jump Blues also makes it easier to use Cyrus to move around your opponent’s damaged Benched Pokémon at will.

Alongside Pheromosa, Kartana also provides extra early-game damage with its Thrash Metal attack, which does 40 damage for only one Grass Energy. While utilizing Pheromosa’s damage-spreading Jump Blues is ideal, Kartana can still help mount up damage quickly on the Defending Pokémon. It’s also prudent to have another Basic Pokémon in the mix to reduce the odds of having to start the match with Buzzwole ex in the Active Spot.

In either scenario, Lusamine is key to getting Buzzwole charged up for the GrassGrassColorless Energy cost of its Big Beat attack. This powerful Supporter card can attach two random Energy from your discard pile to one of your Ultra Beasts, but only if your opponent has gotten at least 1 point. With up to three Energy attachments per turn with Lusamine’s support combined with the Energy Zone, Buzzwole ex will be ready to slam the competition in no time with 120 damage.

If you find yourself needing a bump in your damage output, the Beastite Tool card can help in a pinch, as long as you’ve gotten at least one point. And if you need to ensure that your Buzzwole ex doesn’t get Knocked Out before it can pop off, Erika and Leaf Cape are there to make the Swollen Pokémon even more unstoppable.

Enjoy flexing on your opponents with Buzzwole ex, Trainers!
