Diamond puts in a New Motion Rejecting Its Hunt Valley Lease and is Approved
There’s a lot still to wrap up when it comes to Diamond and its Chapter 11 before it can be considered completely over. One of the outstanding issues is what is happening with Diamond’s leases. Today, Diamond submitted a new motion, “Debtor’s Motion for Entry of an Order Authorizing the Rejection of Hunt Valley Lease.”
The title of the motion sounds ominous but it’s not nearly as bad as it sounds. Under the “Background” section, Diamond states that Sparkle Pop has negotiated its own lease for the Hunt Valley location that is effective June 1, 2025. Therefore, “old Diamond” has no need for it anymore and it has been handed off in a way with the official rejection taking place May 31 at 11:59pm.
Still, things need to go through a process when it comes to Chapter 11 and things made official and this one sounds much worse than it really is which is Sparkle Pop taking over the old Diamond location with a new lease while old Diamond ends theirs.
A hearing has been set for July 16 at 10 am ET with an objection deadline of June 13, 2025.
