Meredith Placko Resigns as CEO of Steve Jackson Games

Meredith Placko announced her resignation as the Chief Executive Officer of Steve Jackson Games. This resignation will become effective on April 18, 2025.

Placko replaced longtime CEO Phil Reed in 2023, when he stepped back from the role (see “CEO at Steve Jackson Games“). She had come to Steve Jackson Games from Turbo Dork, where she also served as CEO.

“After two transformative years at Steve Jackson Games, I’ve made the decision to step down from my role as CEO,” said Placko. “This decision was not made lightly and came after months of deep reflection. I’m proud of the work I’ve done and so grateful for the talented people I’ve had the chance to work with.”

As CEO, Placko helped engineer several successes for the company, including the $1.3 million Munchkin Big Box crowdfunding campaign (see “‘Munchkin Big Box’“) and an expansion of the Munchkin line to include the Shadowrun license (see “‘Munchkin Shadowrun’“). More recently, Placko had also spoken out about the effects of tariffs on the games industry (see “Tariffs“), and had been to a two-year term as a Publisher Director on the GAMA board.

When her resignation becomes effective, she will return to Turbo Dork as CEO to help usher in the next phase of growth for the company that she founded with Greg De Stefano.
