July 9th sees the release of Archie Meets Jay and Silent Bob, the highly anticipated 48-page comic that brings the View Asknewiverse to Riverdale! Written by Kevin Smith with art by Fernando Ruiz, inks by Rich Koslowski, colors by Matt Herms, and letters by Jack Morelli, the release finds Archie leaving the comforts of Riverdale to take a job working at the Quick Stop convenience store made famous in Smith’s legendary Clerks trilogy. Working alongside the eternal iconoclast Randal, Archie quickly finds himself in the orbit of iconic slackers Jay and Silent Bob. The result? A hilarious adventure that will change his life — and comics — forever.
Screen Rant just exclusively debuted two more variant covers for the book, which further cement its growing reputation as the must-have comic of the summer. Let’s take a look!
First, the legendary Mike Allred presents this eye-catchingly meta variant cover that has Jay and Silent Bob’s minds being blown when the Archie comic they are reading seemingly comes to life. The guys seem pretty freaked out by this, so maybe Jay should turn on that boombox and do his “Goodnight Horses” dance to help move on from the experience.
Then, artist Dan Panosian presents his take on Norman Rockwell’s 1958 painting “The Runaway.” Updating it with a Kevin Smith-esque twist, Panosian illustrates the timelessness of both art and friendship.
It was a wise man who once uttered the immortal phrase “snootch to the nooch.” In uncertain times, such a positive mantra is not only welcome, but a thing to be celebrated. Therefore we once again turn our attention to modern day prophets Jay and Silent Bob, for we know that wherever this pair goes, fun will surely follow!
