New extended GameChat trailer and three Ask the Developer: GameChat interviews revealed for Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo has officially revealed Nintendo Switch 2, the successor to the Nintendo Switch system. Read on below to learn more about the new console’s GameChat feature:

With the new online feature GameChat, gaming is even more social on Nintendo Switch 2.  

Simply press the C button on the Joy-Con 2 (R) controller to start an online session with up to 12 friends. The system has a built-in microphone, so you’re all ready to go. You can also share your game screen while chatting. Connect the Nintendo Switch 2 camera (or another compatible USB-C camera) for virtual face-to-face conversations during play! 

Up to four people can share their screens in the same GameChat session. Team up in the same game or watch along as your friends play different ones. It’s all about hanging out and having a good time.

GameChat Open-Access Period

GameChat is included with any Nintendo Switch Online membership

Limited-time offer: Until March 31, 2026, GameChat can be used without a Nintendo Switch Online membership. Afterwards, a Nintendo Switch Online membership will be required to use GameChat.


Additional games, systems and/or accessories may be required for multiplayer mode. Internet, Nintendo Switch Online membership and Nintendo Account required for online features, including GameChat.
