DSTLRY has signed a worldwide, multi-year contract with Penguin Random House for distribution of their comics and graphic novels to both the direct market and the book channel. This makes DSTLRY the first publisher to land a comics distribution deal with PRH since Diamond Comics Distributors declared bankruptcy and the only PRH client, aside from Archie Comics, that is not in the Direct Market top ten (see “Q4 2024 Market Shares”).
The move comes less than a year after DSTLRY dropped Lunar and went with Diamond as their exclusive distributor to both channels. (see “Exclusive: DSTLRY Goes with Diamond as Sole Distributor”). Asked if DSTLRY will continue with Diamond, Marketing Director Sean Edgar told ICV2 “We’re consolidating our distribution to PRH.”
“DSTLRY is a premium brand and Penguin Random House is a premium partner,” said DSTLRY Co-Founder & CEO David Steinberger in a statement accompanying the announcement. “With Penguin Random House, and the continued support of comic and bookstores, we’ll collectively be able to capitalize on opportunities as the DSTLRY library grows.”
