Official Sudowoodo and Lucario deck list strategy revealed for Pokémon TCG Pocket

The Pokémon Company is continuing to reveal new content for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. Read on below to learn more:

Lucario’s damage-boosting Ability powers up Sudowoodo and Rampardos for earthshaking results.

If you’re looking for a counter to Arceus ex in casual battles, come out fighting with this Sudowoodo, Rampardos, and Lucario deck strategy. Arceus ex may have a powerful attack and plenty of HP, but it can’t withstand the might of these three powerful Fighting-type Pokémon. Sudowoodo and Rampardos both hit high damage numbers for low Energy costs, making them incredibly efficient, and even more so with Lucario’s Ability in play to raise their damage. As an added bonus, this deck contains Pokémon that give only one point for being Knocked Out, making it especially strong at trading against opposing Pokémon ex decks. Read on to learn how to help this trio reach their full potential!

2× Sudowoodo (Triumphant Light)
2× Cranidos (Space-Time Smackdown: Dialga)
2× Rampardos (Space-Time Smackdown: Dialga)
2× Riolu (Space-Time Smackdown: Dialga)
2× Lucario (Space-Time Smackdown: Dialga)
2× Professor’s Research (Promo)
1× Cyrus (Space-Time Smackdown: Palkia)
1× Sabrina (Genetic Apex: Charizard)
2× Skull Fossil (Space-Time Smackdown: Dialga)
2× Pokémon Communication (Space-Time Smackdown: Dialga)
2× Poké Ball (Promo)

With its Head Smash attack, Rampardos deals an immense 130 damage for just one Fighting Energy. However, like most Stage 2 Pokémon, Rampardos requires time to set up before it can become a threat. To give it a fighting chance, put Sudowoodo on the front line first—it’s a Basic Pokémon, so it can be played as early as you need, and its Fighting Headbutt attack deals 30 more damage to your opponent’s active Pokémon ex for only one Fighting Energy, making it one of the best Fighting Pokémon for dealing early-game damage. If you happen to run against a Pokémon with a Fighting -type weakness (Arceus ex, anyone?), you can threaten up to 70 damage for very little Energy!

The pumped-up damage doesn’t end there. Lucario’s Fighting Coach Ability makes attacks from your Fighting Pokémon do 20 more damage to your opponent’s Active Pokémon. That bumps Sudowoodo’s damage even further, and at a boosted 150 damage, Rampardos’s Head Smash is powerful enough to Knock Out most Pokémon ex—even ones that aren’t weak to Fighting types, such as Moltres ex or Mewtwo ex. If you need to attack with Cranidos, its Headbutt attack easily deals 70 damage for a single Fighting with Lucario’s Ability in play.

Ramming your head into things is not an advisable battle strategy, but it clearly works for Rampardos. Even if you’re unable to manage landing one-hit Knock Outs with Rampardos, peppering in that early-game damage with Sudowoodo (or even Riolu) should leave the board easy to clean up. Since your Pokémon give only one point for being KO’d, it’s OK to ramp up before taking the knockout blow. Another key strategy is to use Cyrus and Sabrina to move desirable targets into your opponent’s Active Spot—especially Pokémon ex that give up two points.

Good luck in the ring, Trainers!
