Electrify your weekend with a dynamite Dynamax challenge.
Sparks will fly in Pokémon GO during Dynamax Raikou Max Battle Weekend, which takes place from March 15, 2025, at 6:00 a.m. to March 16, 2025, at 9:00 p.m. local time. This legendary challenge includes Timed Research opportunities that kick off on March 10 at 6:00 a.m. local time. Complete the Timed Research to encounter a Dynamax Drilbur, which could be immensely helpful in battles against Dynamax Raikou. Other Timed Research rewards include Drilbur Candy and Max Particles. Tasks must be completed and rewards claimed by March 16, 2025, at 9:00 p.m. local time.
Get amped up for the following event bonuses, which will be in effect throughout the event.
- Max Particle collection limit will increase to 1,600
- 1/4 Adventure distance to receive Max Particles
- Power Spots will refresh more frequently
- 8× Max Particles from Power Spots
- 3/4 Max Particle cost for unlocking and powering up Max Moves

Raikou is an Electric-type Pokémon, so it’s vulnerable only to Ground-type attacks. In a Max Battle, Trainers must use Gigantamax or Dynamax Pokémon, which limits the available Pokémon pool. As the only Ground-type Dynamax Pokémon currently in the game, Drilbur and Excadrill are incredible assets in Raikou Max Battles. Greedent may not be a Ground-type Pokémon, but it can learn a Ground-type Fast Attack. The Max Move a Dynamax Pokémon attacks with is the same type as its Fast Attack, so equipping Greedent with the Fast Attack Mud Shot is a solid strategy for Raikou Max Battles.
Currently, there aren’t any Ground-type Gigantamax Pokémon available in Pokémon GO, but Gigantamax Toxtricity and Gigantamax Venusaur are both resistant to Electric-type attacks. Plus, Gigantamax Gengar is an absolute beast when it comes to dealing massive quantities of damage, making it an effective choice to round out your team.
Have an electrifying Max Battle Weekend, Trainers!
