‘Magic: The Gathering: Final Fantasy’ Product Line Deets Revealed

Wizards of the Coast revealed product line details for Magic: The Gathering: Final Fantasy, a new Standard-legal booster set, which will hit retail on June 13, 2025.

The Final Fantasy set marks the first time a set that is entirely themed around a non-Hasbro IP will hit the market as a Standard set. WotC had previously added non-Hasbro IP cards to various Standard legal sets, such as the Godzilla cards in Ikoria: Lair of the Behemoths (see “‘Spacegodzilla, Death Corona’“) and the Jurassic Park cards to The Lost Caverns of Ixalan (see “‘The Lost Caverns of Ixalan’“). However, they had never actually made an entire Standard legal set that entirely revolved around a non-Hasbro IP until now.

This set features popular characters from across the Final Fantasy series. There will be eight hobby channel SKUs, which includes Collector’s Edition Commander Decks and a Gift Bundle. The product line for this set is as follows:

Final Fantasy Collector Booster Packs and Displays.  Final Fantasy Collector Booster Boxes feature 12 packs that have 15 Magic: The Gathering cards inside of them.  The cards included will be a combination of 5-6 cards of rarity Rare or higher, 3-6 uncommons, 3-5 commons, and a land card.  Collector Packs have a total of 8–13 traditional foil cards and can contain 0-3 Surge Foils.

Final Fantasy  Play Booster Packs and Displays.  Final Fantasy Play Boosters include 14 Magic: The Gathering cards and come 30 packs to a display.  Each pack comes with 1-4 cards of rarity Rare or higher, 3-6 uncommons, 6-9 commons, and a land card.  One card in the pack will be a traditional foil.

Final Fantasy Bundle.  The bundle comes with 9 Final Fantasy Play Boosters, 15 traditional foil basic lands, 15 non-foil basic lands, a bundle exclusive foil alt-art card, a storage box, a Spindown life counter, and 2 reference cards.  These bundles will ship in cases of 6.

Final Fantasy Gift Bundle.  The bundle comes with 9 Final Fantasy Play Boosters, a Final Fantasy Collector Booster, 2 traditional foil extended-art cards, 16 traditional foil basic lands, 16 non-foil basic lands, a storage box, a Spindown life counter, and 2 reference cards.  These bundles will ship in cases of 6.

Final Fantasy Starter Kit.  The Final Fantasy Starter Kit is for two players and comes with two 60-card decks. Each deck will contain 2 traditional mythic rare cards per deck. The kit also comes with 2 deck boxes, 2 reference cards, 2 MTG Arena code cards, and a Play Guide booklet.

Final Fantasy Commander Decks.  The Final Fantasy Commander Decks each come with a 100-card ready-to-play deck featuring two 2 traditional foil legendary cards and 98 non-foil cards.  The contents of the box also include a two-card Collector Booster Sample Pack, 25 new-to-Magic cards, 10 double-sided tokens in 3 of the decks and one deck with 6 double-sided tokens and 4 punch-out counter cards, a strategy insert, a reference card, and a deck box.  There will be four different decks and they will come in case configurations of 4 decks per carton.

Final Fantasy Commander Decks – Collector’s Edition.  The Final Fantasy Commander Decks each come with a 100-card ready-to-play deck featuring 100 Surge Foil cards.  The contents of the box also include a two-card Collector Booster Sample Pack, 25 new-to-Magic cards, 10 double-sided tokens in 3 of the decks and one deck with 6 double-sided tokens and 4 punch-out counter cards, a strategy insert, a reference card, and a deck box.  There will be four different decks and they will come in case configurations of 4 decks per carton.

Final Fantasy Prerelease Pack.  Prerelease Packs are specifically for use in prerelease events and include 6 Final Fantasy Play Booster packs, a year-stamped rare or mythic rare card, a code card for Magic: The Gathering Arena (only available in select regions), a deck box, and a spindown die.
